Another look on Life...

I have been ridiculously stressed out recently, with major exams coming up and no time to study as well as some family drama that's going down...

But after watching 3 hours of Comic Relief on Friday night and watching all the events going down in Japan at the moment, it has put my stressers into perspective.
So next time, you think your life is over, think about those who are in a far worse situation than yourself and you will realise just how little your problems are compared to those of others :)

Body Art

I have been building up an entire folder on my computer to potential tattoos I might get.
I highly doubt that I will get one any time soon, considering that I still live my parents and they would go absolutely mental.....

Dream on :)

How to Make Your Foundation Last All Day

Okay, so busy London Life means, at least for me, little to no time for touch ups and mega long lasting foundation:
Now, your foundation doesn't actually have to be labelled 'long-lasting' for you to be able to make it so, its just a few simple steps that will make your make up last so much longer :)

MOST IMPORTANTLY:

♥ One of the biggest mistakes women make when applying foundation is mixing the wrong type of bases, for example using an 'oil free moisturiser' and a 'water resistant foundation'
♥ OBVIOUSLY if you use a water-based moisturiser and a water resistant foundation, it's not gonna stay on your skin and just slide around all day!

♥ SO....if you're gonna use an oil-free moisturiser, use an oil-free foundation and vice-versa, you will see a huge difference in longevity :)

SECONDLY:

♥  Don't overload your face with product
♥ I see some gals on Youtube applying a toner, serum, moisturiser, suncream, primer, luminiser etc all before they apply their foundation
♥ Again, OBVIOUSLY when you load your face with that much product, especially with oily skin, your foundation will again slide around on your face

AND...

♥ When applying foundation, try to avoid using a stippling/buffer brush
♥ When you use the 'stipple and swirl' or 'buffing' method, it causes micro-exfoliation on the skin, essentially it just lifts up the dry skin
♥ Now, it may look 'air-brushed' at first, but you'll notice, especially with dry skin, that throughout the day, it will begin to look cakey and that is just annoying ....

FINALLY.....

♥  Again this is VERY IMPORTANT, when setting your makeup with powder, DON'T JUST DUST IT ON
♥ Instead, use a powder puff and with two fingers just 'roll' the powder on top of the foundation, pressing and condensing it into the skin
♥ This way, it avoids cake and also properly adheres to the foundation locking it to your skin :)

Hope this has helped and what are your tips on making foundation last ?

Update

Really Really Really sorry I've been MIA for a while but I've just been bogged down by exams and life just keeps getting in the way :(

2011 is going pretty good so far, I've kept the majority of my resolutions (guilty face) and I really do hope that it will be a lot better than 2010..

My New Years Resolutions:

  • Commit to every project I take on (including blogging)
  • Don't do things at last minute
  • Help my parents out ALOT more
  • Believe in myself and my ambitions (crucial time for such)
  • Cut back on shopping
  • And the most important  is to fulfil this quote: 'Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes' by one wise man named Gandhi

Boxing Day Festive Haulin'

The second best thing about Christmas after presents are the bargains. No, I was not insane enought to hit Oxford St on Boxing Day, I was too scared of falling and being trampled, but I did go the day after hoping some sort of calm and I was actually pleasantly surprised :)

My theory with massive national sales like the Boxing Day ones are to ignore cheap shops like Primark and New Look and go for the more expensive stuff. Only because Primark is cheap anyway and even if you get some massive percentage decrease like 80% or summin, you probably with only save £8? Whereas you can actually make use of the sales and get the things you been lusting after now:

Eg. Fur coat:

I have been wanting a classy faux fur coat for absolute yonks now but I have often been sourly disappointed with poor quality and high prices. My mum has loads of real fur but firstly, I don't feel comfortable wearing cute-but-now-dead animals on my back, but also I can't really pull off the whole lavish look.

I'm also not really into the whole animal print, I kinda think it looks quite tacky and its not really 'me'.

This is the first one that I bought from ASOS and though the design looks nice, it wasnt quite casual enough for me, I wanted something that I could wear everywhere. Also the length of it cut me off right mid-thigh for some reason, making me look so incredibly short and smurfy. Needless to say it is only its way straight back to ASOS

QUE FRENCH CONNECTION:

This is exactly what I have been looking for: black, understated, warm, casual.....

As you can see better from the back, there is a large waistband that gives the coat some shape. I love this because every single other one that I have tried completely swanps my petite body and makes me look like a complete tent, not a good look.

This is actually the coat of my dreams and it surprising warm as well without being excessively bulky and best of all (without sounding like a cheapskate) it was over half price reduced from £165 to £80!

TOPSHOP

I often don't shop at Topshop because for me, it is all talk and no trousers to be honest. It charges sometimes ridiculous prices for the simplest things that just completely frustrates me, I mean who wants to pay £40 for a white cotton sleveless tee with a heart printed on it, get me tee for a pound at Primark and some transfer paper and I'll do it myself!

Anyway.....
I love this dress, its totally my colour and has a nice twist on the plain bodycon

I'm not really a huge black clothes person but I did love this dress and I think it makes my small shape look kinda nice and adds a few curves that I didn't know existed.

All in all, a very successful haul in my opinion, I would also like to mention that my mum and I found a very nice brand in Selfridges called 'Cos' which, even without the sales has quite reasonable prices and I really loved their designs. i bought a very retro, simplistic shirt from them but my camera has just died so maybe I shall include in an OOTD but my mum got a truckload of things and I recomment you check them out!

What did you get from the Boxing Day hauls?

Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas to you all! Christmas has to be my favourite part of the year, not the actual day so much but just the general excited atmosphere that surrounds us as Christmas approaches.

5 Things I love about Christmas:

1) Lights all over town
2) Shopping for others rather than for myself, I feel so fulfilled :)
3)Cards that fly in their hundreds through my letterbox every day (slight exaggeration)
4) General festivities, wreaths on doors, Christmas trees, carols etc etc
5) Presents!!!!

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas!

What are your favourite things about Christmas?
